La Nova Sporting Club is hugely excited to bring to the Masters Athletes track and field community, perhaps the best warm weather training camps you will have ever experienced!
We at La Nova Sporting Club asked our strength and conditioning partner, Duncan Ogilvie, Director of DoTraining to survey the track and field athletes he works with to find out what they felt were their warm weather training ‘Must Haves’. Their responses won’t surprise you! They said…
Interestingly, 65% of those athletes who responded felt that having food included at the training venue/accommodation was a necessity, not a luxury! Wonder what the other 35% were thinking!! 73% of athletes said they would be prepared to fly up to 8 hours to a warm weather training venue. Yes, 8 hours! Well, we’re pleased to confirm that La Nova Sporting Club’s Masters Athletes training camps have everything Duncan’s athletes wanted to see, and a whole lot more, and it’s not 8 hours away!
We’re currently developing our 2019 Masters Athletes warm weather training camps to be held in Alicante, Spain. It’s not too early to start thinking about your planning and preparation for the 2019 outdoor season.
Hear what multi Masters World and European Championships Gold medallist Sue Dassie, and Mandy Rowley-Jones, who has represented Great Britain at World and European level have to say about La Nova Sporting Club’s warm weather training camps and why you should consider joining them in 2019. You could also want to bring your own group of athletes for your own dedicated training camp!
La Nova Sporting Club’s Masters Athletes camps will be hosted at the stunning Santara Resort in Alicante, Spain, only 20 minutes from Alicante airport, which can be easily and cost effectively accessed. We know you will arrive fully focused on ‘Preparation and the Pursuit of Excellence’, and the last thing you want to is to have to wait and queue for taxis or buses, so our La Nova Sporting Club driver will meet you at the arrivals lounge and take you in comfort to the resort.
The Costa Blanca enjoys around 325 days of sunshine per year and an average afternoon temperature in excess of 20°C for most of the year. The temperature is cooled in the summer by sea breezes and the surrounding mountains protect the resort from cold northerly winds in the winter. Summers are very long, hot and dry, while winters are cool to mild, with very little rain during the year.
Whilst we know you’re there to train and prepare, should you wish to take some time off, Alicante and Santa Pola are minutes away, with lots to see and do.
Santara Resort is a renowned wellbeing complex boasting relaxing and spacious self-contained bungalow-type accommodation, which can house up to 4 athletes in comfort. Each bungalow is fully accessible, well-furnished and equipped with TV, WiFi, telephone and air conditioning. Bungalows include a living room, dining area, bathrooms, utility room with washing machine, kitchen including cooker, microwave and fridge freezer. Athletes will also be able to relax on their own private terraced seating area.
The complex has a gym, and crucially for performance athletes, a full-service medical centre with access to sports and massage therapists. The complex also has a beautiful spa with sauna, steam room, relaxation area and indoor pool for complete wellbeing and to help you prepare for your next event, or your season ahead. The complex also has a restaurant, bar and supermarket.
Should you want to undertake what is described as ‘functional training’ to complement your training for your specific event, Santara Resort runs a wide range of daily classes, including Pilates, yoga spinning and core stability!
Santara Resort is 5 minutes (by car) from the beautiful Carabassi beach, which has been awarded the Blue Flag for its clear sea and clean sand.
La Nova Sporting Club athletes will access The Manolo Jaen athletic facility and The Esperanza Lag Pavilion, with its Olympic sized (50 metres) swimming pool in nearby Elche, around 15 minutes from the Santara Resort. Transfers to and from the athletic facility are provided.
The athletic facility has an 8 lane Mondotrack™, the surface of choice of the London 2012 and Beijing 2008 Olympic Games!
If required (costed separately) video recordings of training sessions can be undertaken to assist coaches with making the technical refinements to the athlete’s technique that could be the difference when it comes to competition time!
This is La Nova Group’s commitment to its clients
